Today is the day!
FAO Schwarz is officially open and ready for the holiday shopping madness. After three years away from NYC, it is back at the Rockefeller Center with a brand new 20,000 square-foot space.
Anyone who had a chance to visit FAO Schwarz during its 30 year run on 5th Ave before closing its doors in 2015 knows that the toy store follows the “go big or go home” motto. With larger-than-life lego statues and the “Big Piano” dance mat you could play music on by walking across it, we’re excited to see what’s in store for the new space!
A couple staples you can expect to see include the large clock tower entrance, and of course the massive 20-foot long dance-on piano keyboard. (You can even buy one to take home for $128!)
Along with their signature toys, there will be “items from partners such as Melissa & Doug, Marvin’s Magic and Build-A-Bear as well as FAO Schweetz in partnership with IT’SUGAR,” said the company press release.
Additionally, the bi-level store will have a baby adoption station (where kids can “adopt” baby dolls), live magic shows, a kid’s grocery shopping experience, and a build-your-own RC race care station.
