NYC has a lot of amazing movies and iconic roles set in it’s urban jungle. Classic roles that you just couldn’t see anyone else in… or could you? What if some of these iconic roles were recast for the newer, younger generation of actors? Blasphemous… or would you go see these movies?
Wall Street – Replace Charlie Sheen with Leo DiCaprio
I mean, didn’t Leo pretty much PLAY this role in Wolf of Wall Street? Let’s just go 2 for 2 and get him to do a direct remake, instead of a pseudo-remake hiding behind a different movie name.
Saturday Night Fever – Replace John Travolta with Zac Efron
The guy can dance, right? He’s got the looks and the humor. This 70s disco hit set in the NYC nightclub subculture could totally be remade with the old High School Musical star.
Taxi Driver – Replace Robert DeNiro with Alden Ehrenreich
Who the heck is that, you might be asking. Well, you’ll know soon enough once that young Han Solo Star Wars prequel comes out, but he’s already been in a few great movies in his short, young career (“Hail Caesar!” anyone?) He might just have the chops to pull off that famous “You talkin’ to me?” line.
Escape from New York – Replace Kurt Russell with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
Why not? The Rock is getting all the latest action film leads, with no signs of stopping. And everyone loves a good 80s remake. Put both of those concepts together and you’ve got a surefire winner at the box office!
Shaft – Replace Richard Roundtree With Samuel L. Jackson –
Oh…wait… did they do this one already? Shoot.
