The climber, 20 year old Stephen Rogata from Great Falls Virginia, scaled Trump tower for nearly three hours before being apprehended by emergency services. He began his climb from the 5th floor atrium before being pulled into the building by officers from a window on the 21st floor.
It is is believed the climbers intention was to meet with Donald Trump. A police source said told ABC News that he was carrying leaflets. Officials believe him to be the same man identifying himself as the Trump Tower climber in this YouTube video:
Emergency services arrived at 575 Fifth Ave at around 3:40 pm. A safety harness was lowered by officials, but police described him as uncooperative but not threatening. Finally officials opened up the glass above him and got close enough to grab him and pull him inside the building.

Rogata was brought out on a stretcher after he was apprehended.
Police said Rogata was dehydrated and was taken for a psychiatric evaluation at Bellevue Hospital.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. However, a Trump Organization executive issued a statement as reported by ABC News.
“This man performed a ridiculous and dangerous stunt. There’s damage to the building and he caused the unnecessary deployment of New York’s finest to protect his safety and the safety of everyone in the building, […] He’s caused the shutdown of traffic on Fifth Avenue. I’m 100 percent certain the NYPD had better things to do. If Mr. Trump were here he’d be thanking law enforcement for the job they’re doing.”
