This magical, wintry, award-winning Disney movie has been transformed into a Broadway-bound musical production by Olivier Award and Tony Award winner Michael Grandage. The production began in Denver last month and will transfer to New York City early next year.
The show has a cast of over 40 people and will feature twice as much music as the movie—which is all scored by the original songwriting team of Kristen Anderson-Lopez and husband Robert Lopez.
The four main characters of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Hans are played by Patti Murin, Caissie Levy, Jelani Alladin, and John Riddle (respectively). And everyone’s favorite snowman, Olaf, will be played by Greg Hildreth. As for Sven? He’ll be played by Andrew Pirozzi (with an prosthetic addition).
Let’s face it, Frozen may technically be a “kid’s movie,” but if as an adult you didn’t get emotional while watching the heartfelt sibling struggles between Anna and Elsa, you have no soul.
In reality, we are all anxiously awaiting the opportunity to belt out “Let It Go” at a Broadway theater. However, in the meantime, here are some enchanting photos of the frosty production.
The show at Denver’s Buell Theater in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts will run until October 1. Previews of the show in NYC will begin in February but the production will officially open on March 22, 2018. The animated movie will brought to life at St. James Theater, and tickets can already be purchased on the website for Frozen The Broadway Musical.
It may be cold in Arendelle, but this production is heart-warming.
