As spring makes its way to NYC, with already blooming cherry blossoms and NYC’s first 7pm sunset of the year just a few days away, there are sure to be tons seasonal events to put on your radar.
Most notably, NYC’s largest egg hunt ever!
The Trust for Governors Island and the Friends of Governors Island just announced that the island will be hosting the city’s largest egg hunt this year, taking place on Saturday, April 8th. 10,000 painted, wooden eggs will be scattered around the island, waiting to be discovered for potential island-themed prizes and giveaways.
The massive egg hunt is a new springtime activity on Governors Island’s seemingly never-ending programming. Participation in the hunt is free to all.
“Since opening to the public year-round in 2021, Governors Island has cemented itself as an unmatched destination for accessible all-season outdoor fun, and we are thrilled to continue to expand our free year-round programming with the Island’s first public egg hunt,” said Clare Newman, President and CEO of the Trust for Governors Island.
In addition to an island-wide scavenger hunt open to everyone, children will be divided by age groups for various hunts at different levels throughout the day. Visitors can also catch performances from Wonderspark Puppets, and Brooklyn Magic Shop, among others. You can see the event schedule below:
