With the arrival of spring us New Yorkers are enjoying blooming cherry blossoms and 7pm sunsets, there are sure to be tons seasonal events to put on your radar.
Most notably, NYC’s largest egg hunt ever!
The Trust for Governors Island and the Friends of Governors Island just announced that the island will once again be hosting the city’s largest egg hunt for its second year, taking place on Saturday, March 30th. 50,000 painted, candy-filled eggs will be scattered around the island, waiting to be discovered.
The massive egg hunt is just one of many springtime activities on Governors Island’s seemingly never-ending programming. Participation in the hunt is free to all.
Clare Newman, President and CEO of the Trust for Governors Island, stated:
We’re looking forward to celebrating spring on Governors Island with the return of these two fan-favorite events. Egg Hunt and Earth Day both provide visitors with incredible opportunities to explore our 120 acres of open space and come together to celebrate the return of warm weather…we can’t wait to see you on the Island this spring.
In addition to an island-wide scavenger hunt open to everyone, there will be an additional hunt for children ages 5 and under. Visitors can also catch performances from Bubbledad and WonderSpark Puppets, among others.
For even more entertainment, New Yorkers can explore spring-themed arts & crafts, take photos with the Easter Bunny, or grab a bite to eat at one of the vendors on the island.
Don’t forget, you’ll need to book your ferry ticket in order to get to Governors Island!
