Experience the beauty of nature in a whole new way this summer as thought-provoking sculptures and horticulture displays by contemporary artist Ebony G. Patterson completely transform the New York Botanical Garden.
Breathtaking displays of exotic flora and garden-inspired installations will captivate visitors, giving them the opportunity to gaze upon lavishly detailed pieces across the grounds and galleries.
Visitors will find both indoor and outdoor large-scale installations scattered throughout the grounds–from hundreds of glitter-encrusted vultures descending like shadows across the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory lawn to colorful plantings and ghostly cast glass plants representing extinct species inside the Conservatory.
Drawing inspiration from her immersion in NYBG’s collections, Patterson’s work explores entanglements of race, gender, and colonialism. Thus, viewers are invited to contemplate their own relationships with gardens and the natural world.
Patterson’s work is on display at NYBG now through October 22, 2023. Experience the exhibition The New York Times calls a “triumph” for yourself by grabbing tickets here!
