The rooftop at Eataly Flatiron is an oasis in the heart of Manhattan, and the perfect spot to tuck yourself into on a cold winter day.
Like in past seasons, Eataly has been welcoming the change in weather by decking out their rooftop space with beautiful, seasonal-appropriate furnishings and decorations. Winter is no different this year as the “Serra Stellata” theme has replaced the festive autumnal Serra D’Autunno one that had been up since September.
The idea for the Serra Stellata theme was inspired by “starry nights in the forest (‘stellata’ means starry), encouraging guests to look up and admire the winter night sky this season.” The enchanting space “embraces the bounty and diversity of the forest” and features a wintery bosco-inspired atmosphere with velvety blues and delicate displays hanging from the ceiling that’ll make you want to cozy up to some warm risotto.
The seasonal menu will include options inspired by the Italian countryside “to bring guests the feeling of sitting by a fire surrounded by the magical woodland forest in winter” using local vegetables and offering dishes like their Norwich Meadow Sweet Dumpling Squash; a smoky dish filled with local mushrooms and Fontina Val D’Aosta DOP. Main dishes will include items such as Polenta con Ragù di Cinghiale e Porcini, and Pasta Al Forno Classica with the option to add freshly shaved white truffles to your pasta, because why not?
As for the cocktails, Serra Stellata offers an “entirely new menu inspired by the nuances of smoke and the woodsy vibes of the season.” Most cocktail ingredients will be displayed in smoked bottles and the drinks are prepared tableside. Try their Negroni Flight, as the experts experiment with the intensity of smokiness by bringing you three of the same cocktails ranging in the level of smoke. And if you haven’t had your fix of warm cocktails yet, not to worry! They’ll be offering six options on their menu available for the winter season.
Following with the forest theme, Eataly will be donating 5000 newly planted trees to the Arbor Day Foundation to help reforest U.S. areas destroyed by natural disaster.
