Like in past seasons, Eataly has been welcoming the change in weather by decking out their rooftop space with beautiful, seasonal-appropriate furnishings and decorations. Winter is no different this year as an Italian countryside theme has replaced the festive autumnal Serra D’Autunno one that had been up since October.
The idea for the theme was to “transport diners to the Italian countryside with twinkling lanterns and festive greenery.” The enchanting space features beautiful delicate white leaves (to mimic snow-covered leaves in the rural parts of Italy) and winter greenery — hanging from the ceiling that’ll make you want to cozy up to some warm risotto, as well as decadent pasta dishes.
The seasonal menu will include options inspired by the “Italian countryside tradition of crafting rustic dishes with seasonal ingredients,” which for winter means cozy dishes like fonduta, an Italian fondue from the alpine region of Val D’Aosta! The dish dates to the 13th century, when Italian peasants would melt local cheeses over an open flame. There’s even a Taleggio DOP topped with earthy Urbani black truffle on the menu, because why not?
As for the cocktails, Serra is featuring a winter classic, vin brulè (or mulled wine), a drink “synonymous with the holiday season in the north of Italy.” You’ll actually be able to choose from four different crafted versions, from the traditional recipe made with red wine and spices like cinnamon and star anise to three new versions using white, rosè, and even orange wine!
And if you haven’t had your fix of warm cocktails yet, not to worry! They’ll be offering six options on their menu available for the winter season. New to this season is a twist on another holiday favorite — eggnog made with whey from White Moustache, a Brooklyn based producer of Persian-style yogurt.

It’s the perfect place to take in the glittering lights even when the sun sets so early, and if you have no NYE plans yet, they’re even hosting a festive party in the space!
