Leaf peeping season is quickly approaching and we know just the place to take in the kaleidoscope of colors this season. Pack your weekenders and get ready for a trip to the Catskills for a stay at boutique hotel, Eastwind Oliverea Valley, a Scandinavian-inspired property that’s situated within the lush mountains.
Here, guests are invited to stay in their cozy A-frame cabins and suites, blending Scandinavian minimalism with a rustic touch. We made the trip out last fall, and have been waiting all year (even though the property is open all-year-round) to return.

We chose the Lushna Cabin with a deck and couldn’t have been more pleased. After making the quick three-hour journey from NYC, we headed into the main lodge to check in where we were greeted with a glass of champagne.
Our charming A-frame was a petite yet cozy haven, giving us one of the most restful nights’ sleep I’ve ever experienced.
It’s tailor-made for a romantic escape, with a window as the entire back wall that frames the beautiful property and lets you wake up to dreamy scenery.
That said, I’d definitely recommend opting for a cabin with a deck—it gives you that extra touch of private space to truly soak in the surroundings and make your stay even more special.

Each cabin has their own private, separate bathroom, equipped with a toilet, shower, and our favorite part—bath robes!
After savoring a hand-delivered breakfast basket—complete with hard-boiled eggs, flaky croissants, creamy yogurt with granola, and a piping hot thermos of coffee—on our deck, we set out for a scenic hike conveniently located just across the parking lot at Eastwind Oliverea Valley.
The McKenley Hollow Trail connects to both Balsam and Haynes Mountain trails, offering unparalleled views of the surrounding fall foliage.

Once we returned to the property we headed straight for the dry sauna to soothe our muscles. Fortunately, the property also has a cold plunge to cool you off and an infrared lightroom to promote circulation, muscle recovery and detoxification.
Eastwind Oliverea Valley also just debuted its all-season pool that’s definitely a big favorite with guests.

At this point, we definitely worked up a hunger and couldn’t wait to go to our reservation at Dandelion, the on-property restaurant and bar. It serves a locally-rooted seasonal menu that pair wonderfully with their hand-shaken cocktails.
Of course we saved room for dessert, so we made sure to grab a complimentary s’mores kit located in the lodge before heading to the fire pit. Since we went a bit on the early side of the season, we nearly had the whole property to ourselves.
Overall the stay was perfect for a weekend away from the city, and a close drive to other upstate attractions like this fall ride on historic train tracks or the ‘Woodstock of the Wellness World.‘
