This week, Governor Cuomo launched a statewide survey that will allow New Yorkers to choose the state’s new license plate design.
In the survey, residents will be able to choose from five different designs proposed which will replace the current “Empire Blue & White” plates that are aging after a decade on the roads. The five options include four that have the NY’s motto “Excelsior” written on it (three of which depict the Statue of Liberty while the fourth also includes NYC’s skyline and Niagara Falls), and the fifth design features solely the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge as the background…(we can’t help the eye-roll that one involuntarily begot).
That said, those interested in voting can do so on the Governor’s website here, or as of today (Aug. 21), at the Governor’s exhibit at the Great New York State Fair. The voting poll will be open until Monday, September 2, and whichever license plate collects the most votes will become the new Empire Gold plate in April 2020.
