The Standard hotel in the East Village has officially brought back their cozy winter yurts, and we can’t wait to get inside!
Their Winter Garden has transformed into a mini-Christmas market with heated alpine yurts that will make you feel like you’re in the mountains as opposed to the bustling city. This year, The Manscapers from Bravo’s hit show “Backyard Envy” will be there selling wreaths and trimmings until December 23. But before you pick up your wreath, make sure to make a reservation for a fondue feast in one of their enchanting yurts.
The snug yurts have complimentary faux fur coats to use while inside to keep toasty in style. Once you’re comfortable you can dig into all the baked cookies, spiked hot chocolate, and delicious fondue you’d like! The menu in the yurts will vary this year, with options to indulge in an aged cheddar and gruyere fondue as a group, or nibble on swiss rolls, fresh baked chocolate pumpkin seed cookies, a charcuterie board, or refreshing winter salad. That said, you’ll also be able to sip on plenty of spirits to warm you on the inside with cocktail options mulled wine, spiked hot chocolate, spiked hot cider, beers, schnapps, and more. These alpine-inspired tents can seat a group of 8-10, and must be reserved in advanced. If you still want to enjoy the Winter Garden but don’t want to commit to a yurt you can cozy up near one of the many holiday trees and warm up with a hot toddy.
Along with The Manscapers and yurts, Apparis (the company providing the the faux fur in your cozy yurt) will be hosting a pop-up shop this weekend where they’ll sell a number of their jackets. To top it off, Yoseka Stationary will hacve a wrapping room nearby to dazzle up your gifts.
