Coney Island is one of the highlights of the summer season in New York City and although we still have two months before Luna Park opens, a new playground has gotten a makeover and its finally open for all to enjoy!
After receiving $4.75 million in funding for the project from Mayor Bill de Blasio, the Asser Levy Park finally got a necessary upgrade. If you’ve got some little ones that love prancing around on the jungle gym and monkey bars, they’ll love exploring this new little spot at Coney Island.
Chances are you probably never knew this park existed, which means it won’t be super crowded as of yet… take advantage now before it gets hectic as the temperature warms up.
Welcome to kids between the ages 2-12, there’s swing sets, a spray shower (which will definitely come in handy when the weather reaches the 100s) and outdoor fitness machines that grown ups can enjoy (even if you don’t have any kids!).
Considering that spring is just around the corner, the opening couldn’t come at a better time. With Luna Park’s season starting April 6th & Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park on April 14th, there’s still two months of potential sunny days that need to be appreciated!
We also can’t wait for the inflatable theme park coming to the city this summer as well as the much anticipated opening of Legoland in Spring 2020.
Address: Asser Levy Park, W. Fifth St (between Surf & Sea Breeze Avenues).
