New York City has seen an explosion of street art lately, with murals at the center of the conversation with the return of Banksy this past month. New York has always been a hot bed for street artists and this beautiful mural by artist Kelsey Montague is the latest to join the ranks. You can check it out on the wall outside of the Neil Simon Theater on 52nd Street.
Kelsey Montague focuses her large street art installations around interaction. She encourages visitors to share their photos with her on Instagram using the hashtag, #whatliftsyou. You can stop by the mural to insert yourself in between the wings and share your pics with the more than 96,000 others who have used the hashtag on Instagram so far.
This particular piece was made in conjunction with the 25th anniversary revival of the Broadway play, “Angels in America” which opened yesterday. The colors of the mural coincide with the colors of the playbill and the internal publicity for the play.
