Ready for the most fantastic thrill ride?
The longest mountain roller coaster in the country is open for fall in Lake Placid in Upstate New York!
Called the “Cliffside Coaster,” the ride (that opened for the first time in 2020) is located on Mt. Van Hoevenberg, a cross country ski, snowshoe, biathlon & mountain biking center in Lake Placid with 50km of terrain. The coaster was created for not only tons of fun, but also to learn about the rich Olympic history of the Lake Placid area for bobsledding. The coaster follows the alignment of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic bobsled track in the same place.
As you ride all the way to the tippy top you’ll learn all about the area’s Olympic history as you take in the incredible views of the Adirondacks and the beautiful fall foliage.
Then, once you’re at the top, you have complete control for the rest of the ride (and its speed) so you can race your family and friends all the way to the bottom, which is right alongside the iconic bobsled track! The entire ride is a whopping 7,000 feet long.
The Cliffside Coaster Is A One-Of-A-Kind Attraction At The Newly Transformed Mt. Van Hoevenberg. We Are Incredibly Excited To Give Our Guests This Exhilarating Experience. The Coaster Follows The Alignment Of The 1932 & 1980 Olympic Bobsled Track As It Descends The Mountain. The Views Are Amazing, And The Curves Get Your Heart Pounding. Everyone Will Feel Like They Deserve A Medal.
The Cliffside Coaster is currently open daily through Monday, September 3, and then will be open Friday – Tuesday from Friday, September 6 – Monday, October 14from 10 am – 5 pm. See their daily updates here.
It’s a bit of a trek from NYC (and 4.5 hour car ride), but you could always make a whole weekend out of it! Online reservations are highly recommended, as it does often sell out–make them here.
