Just in time for the arrival of summer, a brand new 60,000-square-foot family-friendly facility is set to open this weekend! And, featuring endless opportunities for visitors to enjoy the great outdoors, the field house is expected to quickly become a must-visit summer destination.
Chelsea Piers Field House Brooklyn includes:
- An 80+ degree learn-to-swim pool
- An Olympic-sized gymnastics center
- Two turf fields
- A specialized ninja and parkour center
With the mission of Chelsea Piers to “use sports as a vehicle to instill values in youth participants including dedication, self-confidence, teamwork, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence,” says Chief Operating Officer Jessie Betts Dreyfuss, the Field House will be “more than just a sports facility” but also “a home away from home that offers a safe space for youth and families to reach their personal best.”
The Field House will also offer numerous activities, including recreational classes, summer and school break camps, competitive teams, leagues, birthday parties, special events, and private instruction for the whole family.
The center’s launch party will take place on Saturday, June 17, alongside the Vanderbilt Open Streets festivities. The event, starting at 9 a.m. and lasting through 5 p.m., will give visitors full access to the recreation center.
The launch party also marks the establishment of the Chelsea Piers Foundation, which has pledged an ongoing commitment to social impact and youth development.
“We’ve done our research, and we feel strongly that this facility will meet the high demand for family-friendly sports programming in Brooklyn,” said General Manager Erika White.
Chelsea Piers Field House is located within TF Cornerstone’s Pacific Park development in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn on Dean Street between Carlton and Vanderbilt Avenues (next door to Chelsea Piers’ fitness center). Learn more about it here.
