It’s hard to believe that the magical 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming to an end this Sunday, but it’s going out with an absolute bang.
The biggest watch party on the planet is happening right in our backyard this weekend — the most perfect way to celebrate the FIFA World Cup Final taking place just across the Hudson, especially if you can’t be at the stadium.
Central Park’s iconic Great Lawn is transforming into a massive, 50,000-person mega watch party, and tickets are completely free.
You will want to act fast though because the deadline to score your free ticket is today, Wednesday, July 15.
The ultimate setup in Central Park
Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Governor Kathy Hochul, and FIFA teamed up to ensure the magic of the World Cup belongs to all New Yorkers, not just those lucky enough to snag a stadium seat.
They are pulling out all the stops for this one!
The Great Lawn will feature three state-of-the-art jumbo LED screens, ensuring there is truly not a bad seat in the house.
Beyond the game itself, the event is packed with local food vendors serving up bites that celebrate NYC’s unmatched culinary diversity, plus live entertainment to keep the vibes high.
Radio legends Charlamagne tha God and Elvis Duran are stepping up to emcee the event, and they will be keeping the crowd hyped from the moment doors open at noon until long after the 3 pm kickoff.

A celebration of NYC community
What makes this watch party feel so uniquely New York is its focus on inclusivity.
A full 20% of tickets have been set aside specifically for local nonprofit organizations and NYC Service volunteers.
It’s truly a brilliant way to make sure the people who give so much back to our neighborhoods get front-row seats to the celebration.
The fun also stretches far beyond Central Park.
Across all five boroughs, the city is rolling out the “$26 for 2026” program, offering affordable food and drink specials at participating local spots.
You can also check out various fan festivals and grab an NYC Neighborhood Passport to explore the incredible immigrant communities that make our city the best in the world.
How to get your free tickets
