When was the last time you could do a good deed by simply washing back a beer? Tonight, you can be a hero to a ton of rescue dogs by sinking a beer at a Brooklyn Brewery book signing.
If drinking always saved the life of doggos, we would each be the adopted-parent of a whole kennel by now. Hell, every pupper would be fat and happy if all we had to do was drink to help them out, “I’ll take a rum and coke and a shot of tequila for that French Bulldog over there.” Has doing a good deed ever felt THAT good?
If you thought the internet had killed the cute-animal-photobook you’d be wrong. Even though you can get your fill of cute animal photos online, for free, people are still printing them. One such book, a collection of adorable puppy photos, is The Dogist Puppies. To celebrate the launch of the book, Brooklyn Brewery (79 North 11th St. in Williamsburg) is hosting a Puppies N’ Pints celebration tonight (October 3) from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
The evening will feature, apart from the obvious beer, a book signing with author and photographer Elias Weiss Friedman, as well as a Q&A with him and some of the Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue team. The party will feature visits from some of the cutest, friendliest, and most adoptable puppies from Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue. Since March of 2011 the team has saved well over 1700 Dogs for very high kill rural shelters across the country and found them loving homes. Their Motto? “Saving badass dogs from idiot humans.”
The book, The Dogist Puppies, is a sequel to The Dogist featuring portraits of a variety of lil’ doggos and their “distinct character and spirit,” split into themes Ears, Big Paws, Cones of Shame, Learning to Walk, and Fancy Outfits.
Tickets to the event are free (but there is as $15 suggested donation to support Badass Brooklyn’s rescue efforts)] just RSVP online, so do, give and drink, safe in the knowledge that you’re helping find a forever-home for a needy dog. Also, if you buy a book ($24.95) you’ll be entered to win a photo session with your own dog and the chance to be featured on The Dogist’s Instagram.
