We’ve seen simply hundreds of articles comparing real-estate prices in NYC to other parts of the world, and we get it… NYC is expensive. According to Miller Samuel and Douglas Elliman Real Estate, a one bedroom condo in Manhattan will cost you, on average, around $992,000. But what if you wanted to take that cold hard cash and invest it somewhere else, what would it buy you?
Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with Cedar Island. Not only could you buy it for the price of a one bedroom apartment, you would have enough left over to but yourself a boat! Albeit a little one.
The island is located in Vermont, at the archipelago of northern Lake Champlain. You aren’t just buying the land either, at the highest point sits a 5 bedroom house complete with an outdoor deck with a hot tub, gazebo and tennis court.
The 8.4-acre island heads to the auction on October 12 and will be sold at (or above) $850,000. Maybe it’s time to reconsider that Manhattan apartment guys.
