Though we’re still one week away until Halloween, our favorite green space in Midtown is looking ahead to December.
Dates for the Bryant Park Christmas tree lighting have landed, not-so-coincidentally on the day that Winter Village opened for the season (October 24th).
Now, the park has ditched its summertime staples and replaced the grounds with small huts for local artisans and vendors, a generous area for snacking, an ice skating rink, and soon…a Christmas tree. Little by little, the North Pole vibes are coming.
We encourage you to take off your monster costume for just a moment and opt for the ugly Christmas sweater instead while you digest the news.
All about the Bryant Park Christmas tree lighting 2025
Bryant Park’s free holiday happening is one for the books, complete with caroling, fantastic ice skating demonstrations, and of course the big moment itself: the tree lighting (which is typically accompanied by fireworks).
Mark your calendar for the annual tradition: December 2nd at 5:30pm. Although the hosts for the special evening are still TBD — as are the ice skaters — we can assure you that this is an event you won’t want to miss. As soon as more details are available, you’ll be the first to know.

In the meantime, we recommend reveling in spooky season since it’ll soon be gone. If you are one to plan ahead, we’ve got you there, too. Our list of festive things to do in NYC this holiday season will help you bookmark the best of the best. What’s more? It’s being updated on a regular basis, so check back for more additions.
