Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner, NYC. While many are heading out of town or planning a barbecue, it is also a time to honor those who served.
If you want a meaningful way to spend your Monday, the 159th Memorial Day Parade in Brooklyn is the perfect local tribute. Sponsored by the United Military Veterans of Kings County, Inc., this historic march is a beloved community staple.

When and where to catch the parade
The massive procession kicks off promptly at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 25, 2026.
The line of march steps off at 3rd Avenue and 78th Street. From there, the route heads along Third Avenue to Marine Avenue, moves up to Fourth Avenue, and finally wraps up at John Paul Jones Park (also known as Cannonball Park) at 4th Avenue and 101st Street.
Make sure to grab a good spot along Third Avenue to watch the incredible procession go by! Just remember, no alcoholic beverages are allowed anywhere along the route.
Who is marching this year?
This year’s lineup is absolutely massive. You can expect to see everything from NYPD and NYC Parks horses to a fleet of antique cars and loaded military vehicles.
The streets will be filled with live music from various groups, including the NYPD Band, the All City Band, and the Fort Hamilton Marching Regiment.
Leading the way are this year’s Grand Marshals: Brigadier General Michael J. Deegan and Robin Kelleher, CEO of Hope For The Warriors. They are joined by Deputy Grand Marshals including Joe Bello and the historic Borinqueneers.
The Reviewing Officer for the event is Colonel Misty Cantwell, Commander of the US Army Garrison Fort Hamilton.

The memorial service and aftermath
The parade is just the beginning. The event is deeply rooted in its powerful theme: “Lest We Forget”.
Once all the marchers enter the park in formation, they will pass in review by the grandstand. After that, there will be a beautiful memorial service immediately following the parade right on the field in John Paul Jones Park.
Whether you have family who served or you just want to show your support, this is a beautiful tradition. Grab your friends, bring your flags, and get ready to celebrate a piece of Brooklyn history!
