Brooklyn Brewery is growing alongside it’s borough. The Brewery announced earlier this week that they would expand to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, leasing a 75,000 square-foot space in Building 77. Plans to expand include a new headquarters, brewery, beer garden and rooftop restaurant.
Building 77 is currently a part of a $185 million renovation plan to convert one million square feet of space into manufacturing, tech and design areas. According to the Mayors Office, 3,000 jobs will be added by the complex when it is completed next year.
Earlier this week David Ehrenberg, Brooklyn Navy Yard President and CEO, said “The Brewery will play a pivotal role in creating a vibrant publicly accessible food manufacturing and retail hub on the ground floor, while the rooftop beer garden and restaurant will be a welcome place for tenants and community members to relax, collaborate, and meet. The Brewery will also help attract and support the next generation of food and beverage entrepreneurs to the Yard.” When it opens in 2018, Brooklyn Brewery will bringing 124 jobs to the area and potentially 100 more in the future.
