Every Broadway theatre has one day (usually a Monday) when they remain dark and don’t hold any performances for reasons such as labor strikes, natural disasters, and tragedies. This year, however, that day is falling on a Tuesday as the show will not go on in many Broadway theaters on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5th.
This Election Day will be the first Presidential Election since Broadway reopened, and many popular shows such as Chicago, Hamilton, and Wicked will keep their performance schedules empty. For those who’d like to ease those election day woes there will still be some shows putting on performances including The Outsiders, The Roommate, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Left on Tenth, McNeal, and Suffs.
Broadway shows that will go dark on Tuesday, November 5th include:
- & Juliet
- Aladdin
- Back to the Future
- The Book of Mormon
- Cabaret
- Chicago
- Death Becomes Her
