A New Generation Of Winemakers Are About To Take New York By Storm

No matter where you are in the city, great wine is never more than a stone’s throw away. But with New York’s extensive wine repertoire, finding the perfect bottle is no easy feat. Luckily, we’re here to help you navigate your restaurant choices this fall, and we’ve made it easy enough: follow Bordeaux Wines! This November, the Bordeaux Wines are celebrating the next generation of up-and-coming winemakers by bringing their rare 3-Liter, double Magnum size bottles and by-the-glass lists to some of New York’s favorite restaurants.

This aptly-named Next Gen program features thirteen wineries that showcase the collective talent of the young disruptors making their mark in Bordeaux. The selected wines capture the artistry of Bordeaux appellations from various perspectives, including long-established family châteaux and the relative newcomers to the region.

Throughout the month of November, the city’s best restaurants are giving you the opportunity to taste these modern wines by-the-glass, while supplies last! From wine bars to Michelin-starred restaurants…over 65 culinary hotspots around the city have signed up to showcase these modern wines from this benchmark region. These young minds have also made a collective commitment to sustainable winemaking while preserving many of the region’s honored traditions. These winemakers are embracing unique and innovative methods to reduce their impact on the environment while still making the quality Bordeaux wine that we all know and love.

These dynamic wines represent the future of a region synonymous with quality and tradition, and the Next Generation of Bordeaux couldn’t be more excited for New Yorkers to get a sneak peek. With over 65 restaurants participating in this by-the-glass program, you can make your way around the city and taste wine like a sommelier who only drinks Bordeaux. Be an early bird and get your reservation to one of the following preview restaurants and be sure to mention Bordeaux Big Bottles when you do!

For French cuisine served alongside an exciting Bordeaux selection, check out NYC’s iconic Bar Boulud. Settle into the main dining area, featuring a curved ceiling reminiscent of a wine cave, as you enjoy a glass of Felix De Biac 2016 or Château Roquefort Blanc 2020. For a rich and elegant red teaming with notes of cedar and jammy black fruit, opt for a glass of the Felix De Biac, a perfect pairing for many of the menu’s bistro classics. If you’re looking for white wine, the Château Roquefort Blanc is an aromatic, floral style with hints of white blossom and tangy citrus notes.

If you’re after a theatrical evocation of Paris and bistro-style gastronomy, look no further than Pastis. Discover a lively Parisian atmosphere in the middle of the Meatpacking District as you enjoy a hearty glass of Château Haut-Rian 2018. This opulent wine leads with peppered blackberries and calls for steak frites – a perfect glass to enjoy in this lofty and sophisticated atmosphere.

L’Adresse American Bistro serves up seasonal fare with a European touch in the heart of Midtown. It’s also the perfect spot to quaff a glass of Moulin de la Roquille 2018. A modern blend of three traditional Bordeaux grapes, this robust wine is aged in oak barrels for over a year, making for a wine that is complex yet easy to pair with a very easy-to-enjoy menu.
