Bathhouse, a beloved Williamsburg gem that’s been providing Brooklynites with an escape into wellness since 2019, has expanded! They’ve officially opened the doors to their second location in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron neighborhood.
And unlike some of NYC’s other spas that transform outdoor terraces and put their roots down on restored and historic Army Barracks, this one completely transforms a 35,000-square-foot underground parking garage!
Staying true to the Williamsburg location’s roots, this serene oasis promises a unique fusion of global bathhouse traditions, dating back 5,000 years, and modern approaches and hospitality standards.
Guests will be able to virtually hit the reset button by stepping into one of the bathhouse’s six heated pools, steam room, Russian style banya, and three saunas (including an 800-square-foot dry sauna that fits 100 people).
Those looking for a little extra rejuvenation will also be delighted to know that the bathhouse also features 19 treatment rooms, perfect for both individuals and couples looking to indulge in services such as massages and hammam scrubs.
And did we mention there’s also an all-day cafe serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails?!
Culinary offerings range from breakfast options like a Green Egg Frittata with harissa and zhug, to afternoon bites, such as a Cashew Spinach Dip or Porchetta Meatballs with fennel pollen and tomato confit.
“Bathhouse is a place to be fundamentally human,” said co-founder Jason Goodman. “We believe [it’s] the best bathhouse in the world. We’re very excited to host New Yorkers and visitors from around the world.”
Like its Brooklyn counterpart, this location will offer signature packages such as the Bathhouse Experience (Day Pass, 50-minute Full-Body Massage, and 30-minute Hammam Scrub) and the Hero’s Journey (Day Pass, 80-minute Bathhouse Pro Massage, and 50-minute Pro Hammam Scrub) to cater to varying preferences of guests.
Regular day passes are also available, ranging from $45 – $70 depending on the time you choose, which include unlimited access to the bathhouse’s amenities.
Bathhouse is not merely a spa, rather it’s a purposeful journey towards wellness. Goodman stated:
It’s worth noting that we often get lumped into the “Spa” category. There is, however, a different intentionality expressed in bathhouses that we believe the general public is becoming way more interested in. Bathhouses offer functionality over fluff, and spas provide an experience that we like to call “performative relaxation.” It’s not a particularly “relaxing” experience to be in a sauna and neither is it “relaxing” to be in a cold plunge. The point is, you’re going to feel amazing afterward and leave better off than when you arrived.
