If you haven’t yet gotten a chance to check out the buzzy new all-day Mediterranean restaurant, Barlume, which opened back in December, they have some exciting news that will make a reservation here a top priority for you: their subterranean cocktail bar/nightclub has officially opened its doors as well!
The sunrise to sundown space is the latest dining concept from LDV Hospitality, the team behind over-the-top Italian restaurant Scarpetta. Translating to “glimmer” in Italian, Barlume offers an all-day dining experience oozing with flavors of the sun-soaked, coastal Mediterranean, think: Italy’s Amalfi Coast, the French Riviera, and Spain’s Costa Brava.
That’s to say you’ll find a menu designed to celebrate bright, fresh cuisine, filled with both small sharable bites and heartier family-style dishes. Menu items include a selection of spreads such as Fava Bean Hummus and Spinach Tzatziki, Braised Artichokes, Blue Crab Toast, Wagyu Carpaccio, Branzino, a selection of Pinsas, or Roman-style flatbreads, and Gnocchetti.
Though beyond the main dining room you can also explore the space’s cafe, with coffee, pastries, and breakfast, which doubles as a late-night wine bar.
Barlume Downstairs, the subterranean cocktail counterpart, offers a hidden escape perfect for savoring expertly crafted cocktails and light bites in a seductive, intimate atmosphere. Here, you’ll find nightly entertainment in a space that evokes warmth with its golden velvet seating, deep leather and dark wood accents, and illuminated amber glass brick walls.
Highlights of the downstairs menu includes the Barlume Gimlet, Charred Red Pepper & Walnut Spread, Mortadella Flatbread, and more.
Whether it’s an early morning espresso, a lively dinner with friends, or an evening cocktail, Barlume promises to be a beacon of coastal elegance amid the fast-paced rhythm of NYC. LDV Hospitality founder John Meadow stated:
Barlume is our tribute to both New York and Italy—a celebration of vibrant energy and laid-back elegance. We wanted to create a space where you can enjoy every part of the day, from an early morning coffee to late-night cocktails, all while experiencing the incredible flavors of the Mediterranean.
You can find Barlume and Barlume Downstairs in the bustling Flatiron District. Opening hours are Monday through Saturday. Between here and these two spots that were just named two of the world’s best new restaurants, looks like our week is going to be filled with dinner plans!
