Get ready to strike a pose because the city’s first analog photography photobooth gallery and museum is having its grand opening this October. Fusing light, chemistry, and black and white nostalgia, AUTOPHOTO will invite New Yorkers into its one-of-a-kind space to explore the art, history and life of vintage photobooths.
Described as “part archive, part gallery,” the museum will feature exhibitions from artists who solely work within four frames and a rotating collection of restored photobooth machines.
The women-owned company has been preserving vintage photobooths since 2009, choosing a name that pays tribute to the original manufacturer once responsible for distributing booths worldwide. With fewer than 200 working photobooths left in existence, AUTOPHOTO doesn’t just restore booths, but reclaims a now rare art form.
When will AUTOPHOTO open?
AUTOPHOTO will open on Saturday, October 11th, 2025.
Where is AUTOPHOTO?
AUTOPHOTO is located at 121 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side. It will be open Tuesday through Monday 12pm to 10pm.
