If you’re looking for a quick and affordable weekend getaway, Amtrak has you covered. The secret to saving big? Booking in advance!
Amtrak is giving early planners major discounts on trains leaving from NYC to cities along the Northeast, including Washington DC, Boston, Providence, and Philadelphia. For those traveling on the Northeast Regional, you can save up to 50% by booking 21 days in advance and up to 30% on Acela travel by booking 14 days in advance.
Both trains offer large, comfortable seating, free wifi, power outlets, and the ability to bring up to four bags at no extra cost.
Passengers taking advantage of Amtrak’s saver fares will pay as little as $31 for a one way from NYC to Boston. Looking to get there quicker? Book in advance for Acela travel, the fastest trains in the United States that speed up to 150 mph, for $58 between NYC to Boston
The Northeast Regional and Acela are all-electric locomotives. Therefore, in addition to saving money, you’re helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 72% in comparison to flying and 83% if you were to be driving.
Looking for other ways to travel with Amtrak? They previously announced a limited-time flash summer sale onboard their Auto Train that lets you take your vehicle onboard the train with you to your destination, in addition to special Night Owl Fares with travel between the Northeast ranging from $5-$20 for trains leaving in the late hours of the night or early hours of the morning.
