Amazon’s HQ2 may not’ve been built in Long Island City, but it’s not stopping the company from taking over NYC anyway.
In the last few years Amazon has opened their first cashier-free store, taken over 335,000 square feet of office space in Hudson Yards, and are now opening yet another massive warehouse out on Staten Island!
The first warehouse, which opened in 2017, was 855,000 square feet; now, the new warehouse right next door will be another 450,000 square feet. According to silive.com, the new facility will join the first one at Matrix Global Logistics Park on the West Shore.
Amazon’s original space was used as a distribution and storage facility (and still will be), while the new addition will be focused on “last-mile deliveries.”
The huge new warehouse is planned to be up and running by mid year.
