Though 2024 brings hope and an air of excitement, there’s still no hope for the MTA come the new year. The MTA recently announced that no subway trains will go to the Queensboro Plaza station on January weekends due to accessibility upgrades. This suspension of service goes for the 7, N and W lines.
Upgrades to Queensboro Plaza include a new platform-mezzanine elevator steel and equipment, new roofing, stair repairs, fire alarm system installation and more.
The accessibility and track upgrades will occur on Jan. 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, and 27-29 from 12:01 a.m. on Saturdays through 5:00 a.m. on Mondays.
Additionally, continued maintenance on the F line between 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Center and 36 St in Queens will result in suspension of the F shuttle train the weekend of Jan. 6 – 8. During that time, equipment will be remobilized to begin the next phase of track replacement.
