Maybe your local Trader Joe’s will be a little less crowded with the brand new store location now open in the East Village.
Trader Joe’s long-awaited new store location at 436 East 14th St. is finally open (as of yesterday, January 6). It’s three avenues away from another location in Union Square (142 E 14th St.), and is the ninth Trader Joe’s store in Manhattan. There are also two locations in Brooklyn, one in Staten Island, one in Rego Park, Queens and another supposedly coming to Long Island City.

The tell-tale quirky wall art at this location is by a local NYC illustrator named Peter Arkle, and the store itself is located on the bottom floor of a luxury rental apartment building.

The aisles are also “extra wide” from the usual stores, for easier maneuvering and managing crowds, according to AM New York and Eater NY.

It will not have the famous wine shop attached, just beer (for alcoholic beverages). Plus, of course, all the usual favorites like Mandarin Orange Chicken, Cauliflower Gnocchi, and Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate, as well as basics like organic milk, eggs, meat, and organic produce, and fresh flowers daily.
The store’s hours are 8am to 10pm (Monday-Sunday).
