With spooky season in full swing, who else is looking to spend “A Night with the Dead”?
Well, this stirring fantasy-comedy play about the origins of the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos will take you on a magical journey through the Land of the Dead by uber-talented NYC actors and musicians!
A virtual stream of “A Night with the Dead” is being put on by theater company Something from Abroad Productions, and will follow the journey of Catrina, a Mexican girl who, in the aftermath of her grandmother’s death, will go on a journey to question tradition and discover what happens after we die.
The play is entirely in English, with lyrical Mexican folk songs in Spanish and dances inspired in the Mexican traditional folklore intertwined throughout.
Taking place this weekend, Sunday, November 1 & Monday, November 2 at 7 p.m., it will surely get you in the Día de Muertos spirit.
And besides enjoying a fantastic performance, each ticket will also help a Hispanic-female-led theatre company get the support to keep creating content.
And if you’re craving a sweet treat after the performance, then you’re in luck!
After the streaming, there will be a quick “Pan y Chocolate” talk-back with the creative team. So grab that chocolate abuelita or hot cocoa and your pan de muerto (or favorite pastry) to celebrate this beautiful holiday with us from the comfort of your own home!
