Montgomery Clift passed away in 1966 at just 45 years old. However, the beloved actor’s legacy lives on inside the Upper East Side townhouse he called home for his final six years.
Before Marlon Brando and James Dean emerged, Clift captivated audiences in the 1940s and 1950s. He earned four Oscar nominations during his brilliant career.
Today, this stylishly preserved residence sits in the exclusive Treadwell Farm Historic District. This two-block stretch has also housed legends like Eleanor Roosevelt and Frank Sinatra.
Daniela Kunen and Priscilla Tuohy of Douglas Elliman hold the $8 million listing, as originally shared by the Robb Report.

A pedigreed past with famous guests
Architects A. & S. Bussell completed the brownstone and brick home in 1875. It boasts an incredible lineage.
President Theodore Roosevelt gifted the property to his daughter as a wedding present in 1906. Clift later bought it from exiled Russian Prince Serge Obolensky.

During his time there, Clift frequently hosted his famous friends. Icons like Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor gathered around a custom teak bar in the sitting room.
Incredibly, that bar remains completely intact today.
