Es ist drei Jahre her, dass die Öffentlichkeit das letzte Mal die oberen Etagen des Vessels, einer 150 Fuß hohen Skulptur des Heatherwick Studios im Herzen von Hudson Yards, erkunden durfte.
Bereits im April wurde bekannt gegeben, dass das Vessel im Laufe des Jahres wiedereröffnet werden soll, doch damals gab es noch keinen festen Termin.
*Das Immobilienunternehmen Related Companies bestätigte, dass das Monument in den oberen Stockwerken wiedereröffnet wird, die mit Stahlgitterbarrieren nachgerüstet wurden, die vom Boden bis zur Decke reichen. Diese neuen Sicherheitsvorkehrungen sind eine Folge der tragischen Selbstmorde, die sich 2021 ereigneten.
Da es nicht möglich ist, die gleichen Stahlbarrieren auf der obersten Ebene von The Vessel zu installieren, bleibt dieser Teil der kletterbaren Skulptur für die Öffentlichkeit geschlossen.
„Es vergeht kein Tag, an dem nicht Besucher auf unsere Mitarbeiter zugehen und fragen, wo sie Tickets kaufen können und wann der Vessel wieder geöffnet wird… dieses Interesse hat in der Zeit der Schließung nicht nachgelassen und wir freuen uns darauf, Gäste aus aller Welt mit zusätzlichen Sicherheitsmaßnahmen wieder im Vessel begrüßen zu können“, so Jeff T. Blau, CEO von Related Companies.
Die Vessel wurde erstmals im Jahr 2019 eröffnet. Besucher, die die neu eröffneten Ebenen des Vessel besuchen möchten, müssen Tickets online kaufen.
