Vor kurzem drohte dem beliebten Hotdog-Laden die Schließung. Aber man kann nur die Daumen drücken, dass Papaya King geöffnet bleibt, denn dieses Lokal an der Upper East Side ist die erste Adresse, wenn man einen klassischen New Yorker Hot Dog essen möchte.
Die originelle Combo besteht aus zwei Hot Dogs mit Kraut, Relish und Zwiebeln sowie einem der hausgemachten tropischen Getränke. Unter den Geschmacksrichtungen finden sich Stars wie Pina Colada, Strawberry Fields, Coconut Champagne und natürlich Papaya.

13. Sashimi Express I & II
Sashimi Express ist ein Sushi-Lokal, das nur gegen Barzahlung betrieben wird und zwei Standorte in der Upper East Side hat: einen in der East 74th Street und einen weiteren in der East 78th. Dieser Sushi-Laden, der 3 Rollen für 12 Dollar anbietet, rühmt sich damit, „schnell, günstig und frisch“ zu sein. Natürlich ist der Central Park beileibe kein verstecktes Juwel. Die Neue Galerie ist ein deutsches und österreichisches Kunstmuseum, das Werke aus dem frühen 20. Sie können hier einkaufen, essen gehen und die verschiedenen fantastischen Ausstellungen des Museums besuchen.
Im Cafe Sabarsky, das auf österreichische Küche spezialisiert ist, finden wöchentlich Kabarettvorstellungen statt, während das Cafe Fledermaus jeden Freitag eine Filmvorführung im Wiener Stil mit Getränken und Snacks anbietet.
