Natürlich können Sie Ihr eigenes Fahrrad mitbringen oder eines vor Ort mieten, aber am einfachsten ist es wohl, sich ein Citi Bike zu schnappen. Auf der Website von Citi Bike kannst du sehen, wo sie sich in der Nähe deines Ziels befinden.
Hier sind die perfekten Orte in NYC für eine entspannte Fahrradtour im Frühling:
1. West Side Highway/Hudson River Greenway
Dies ist die Empfehlung, die wir am häufigsten erhalten haben. Und das ist nicht weiter verwunderlich. Der Hudson River Greenway erstreckt sich über den größten Teil der West Side von Manhattan – er hat eine Länge von 12,9 Meilen, beginnt im Norden der Stadt am Inwood Hill Park und endet am Battery Park am Ende der Insel. Sie können überall einsteigen, aber zu den Höhepunkten gehören die mächtige Intrepid an der 46. Straße sowie der Freedom Tower und das 9/11 Memorial unten am Ende des Weges. Ganz am Ende können Sie einen Blick auf die Freiheitsstatue werfen.
Insider-Tipp: Beginnen Sie an der Spitze und fahren Sie zum Little Red Lighthouse unter der George Washington Bridge – ein atemberaubender Anblick, der auf das Jahr 1880 zurückgeht!

2. Central Park
Der berühmte Central Park in New York City ist natürlich ein großartiger Ort, um an einem schönen Tag in die Pedale zu treten. Der 6,1 Meilen lange Rundweg ist sowohl für Freizeitradler als auch für ambitionierte Radfahrer geeignet, und es gibt viel grünes Gras, um zwischendurch Pausen einzulegen! Vergessen Sie nicht, während Ihrer Fahrt an der Bethesda Terrace anzuhalten, um eines der Wahrzeichen des Parks zu sehen.
3. Prospect Park
Radfahren ist auf den Park Drives im Prospect Park in Brooklyn erlaubt, der einen 3,35 Meilen langen Rundweg umfasst. Sie können Fahrräder im LeFrak Center in Lakeside ausleihen; weitere Informationen hier.

4. Madison Square Park

5. Washington Square Park, Greenwich Park
Der Park selbst muss mit dem Fahrrad befahren werden, aber auch die umliegenden Straßen in der Nähe der NYU eignen sich gut für eine campusähnliche Fahrt.

6. Flushing Meadows-Corona Park
Im Flushing Meadows Corona Park gibt es einen 2,2 Meilen langen Radweg rund um den Meadow Lake sowie zahlreiche andere Wege und Pfade abseits der Straße mit Blick auf die Unisphere, das Queens Museum und andere Sehenswürdigkeiten. Außerdem gibt es im Park zahlreiche lokale Anbieter, die an jedem beliebigen Tag Fahrräder ausleihen.

7. Brooklyn Bridge Park
Der landschaftlich reizvolle, fahrradfreundliche Greenway am Wasser durchquert den Park von Pier 1 bis Pier 6. Das Radfahren ist nur auf dem ausgewiesenen Radweg erlaubt. Mehr Informationen hier.

8. South Street Seaport
Erkunden Sie den East River in der Nähe des Seehafens mit Wanderwegen, die entlang des Flusses verlaufen und atemberaubende Ausblicke auf das Wasser, die Brücken und die Skyline von Lower Manhattan bieten!

9. Coney Island
Auf Coney Island in Brooklyn gibt es eine fast 3 Meilen lange Strandpromenade, die das Wasser und den Sand umschlingt. Hier können Sie ungestört in die Pedale treten … und vielleicht sogar Ihre Zehen in den Sand tauchen, wenn das Wetter warm genug ist. Entlang des Strandes gibt es viele Anbieter, die Fahrräder stunden- oder tageweise vermieten.
10. SoHo
Wie wäre es mit einer Fahrradtour mit anschließendem Einkaufsbummel? Der New Yorker Stadtteil SoHo ist voll von süßen kleinen Seitenstraßen und kopfsteingepflasterten Verstecken, die sich wunderbar für eine Tour durch das Viertel eignen. Außerdem gibt es hier zahlreiche Citi Bike-Stationen… Sie können also nach Belieben anhalten und weiterfahren!
Houston bis Canal Streets zwischen West Broadway und Lafayette Street
11. 34th Ave. in Jackson Heights, Queens
Zurzeit ist die 34th Ave in Jackson Heights im Rahmen des Open-Streets-Programms für den Verkehr gesperrt. Ein Leser berichtete, dass dies für eine besonders ruhige Fahrradtour sorgt!
12. Governors Island
Governors Island bietet 7 Meilen autofreies Radfahren. Bringen Sie Ihr eigenes Fahrrad mit oder leihen Sie eines bei Blazing Saddles in der Nähe der Liggett Terrace oder bei Citi Bike an den Fähranlegern. 13. Staten Island Greenway
Für alle Radfahrer auf Staten Island gibt es eine Vielzahl von Wegen und Pfaden, die durch den Stadtbezirk führen! Insgesamt gibt es etwa 35 Meilen markierter Wege, die durch Wälder und Feuchtgebiete führen, sodass Sie sich Ihre Herausforderung aussuchen können.
14. Jacob Riis Beach, Rockaway, Queens
An einem der besten Strände von New York City gibt es eine Strandpromenade, auf der Sie mit dem Fahrrad in der Meeresbrise fahren können! Wenn Sie hier entlang fahren, vergessen Sie nicht, einen Abstecher zum Fort Tilden zu machen, einer ehemaligen Militäranlage, von der aus Sie einen fantastischen Blick auf die Skyline und den New Yorker Hafen haben.

15. Randall’s Island
Randall’s Island verfügt über 10 Meilen breiter Fahrrad- und Fußgängerwege, die gepflastert und größtenteils flach sind, frei von Autos, Lastwagen und Bussen. Es gibt drei verschiedene Routen mit unterschiedlichen Längen, je nachdem, wie ehrgeizig Sie sich fühlen! Mehr Infos hier.
