1. Metrograph, Lower East Side
Das Metrograph, eines der neueren unabhängigen Kinos in New York, wurde 2016 in der LES eröffnet und ist seither die erste Adresse, wenn Sie einen vielseitigen Film sehen möchten. Das IFC Center wurde im Juni 2005 eröffnet und ist ein Paradies für Filmfans. Hier gibt es jede Menge unterhaltsame Veranstaltungen, wie zum Beispiel ein monatliches Programm mit LGBTQ-Gastkuratoren, eine wöchentliche Dokumentarfilmreihe und Kultfilme freitags und samstags um Mitternacht. 4. Film Forum, Hudson Square
Das Film Forum begann 1970 als alternativer Vorführraum für unabhängige Filme mit 50 Klappstühlen und einem Projektor. Seitdem wurde es erweitert, die Bestuhlung, die Beinfreiheit und die Sichtlinien in allen Sälen verbessert und eine vierte Leinwand hinzugefügt. Gezeigt wird eine breite Auswahl an Filmklassikern und exotischen Independent-Filmen.

5. Angelika Film Center, Greenwich Village

6. Anthology Film Archives, East Village
Die 1970 eröffneten Anthology Film Archives sind ein internationales Zentrum für die Bewahrung, Erforschung und Ausstellung von Film und Video. Sie konzentrieren sich besonders auf unabhängiges, experimentelles und Avantgarde-Kino und zeigen jährlich mehr als 900 Programme.

7. Das Pariser Theater, Midtown East
Das legendäre Paris Theatre wurde am 13. September 1948 eröffnet und ist das am längsten bestehende Programmkino in New York und Manhattans größtes und einziges verbliebenes Kino mit nur einer Leinwand. Das Kino wurde vom französischen Filmverleiher Pathé als Schaufenster für seine Filme gebaut und beherbergt exklusive Kinoveranstaltungen, Premieren, Sonderveranstaltungen, Retrospektiven und Auftritte von Filmemachern.

8. Roxy Kino New York, Tribeca

9. Quad-Kino, Greenwich Village
Das Quad wurde am 18. Oktober 1972 eröffnet und war das erste Kino der Stadt mit mehreren Sälen unter einem Dach. Das Programm bietet eine Mischung aus allem, einschließlich ausländischer und inländischer Filme, Spielfilme und Dokumentarfilme, Arthouse und Grindhouse. Das Programm läuft an sieben Tagen in der Woche und umfasst übersehene Werke, ausgefallene Perlen, zeitgenössische Kunst, radikale Polemik, Live-Performances und vieles mehr. Die meisten Filme werden zu einem günstigen Preis von 5 $ gezeigt, mit Ausnahme einiger Sonderveranstaltungen, die 10 $ kosten, sofern angegeben.

11. Cinema Village, Greenwich Village
Seit mehr als drei Jahrzehnten ist das Cinema Village eines der besten Programmkinos in New York und das älteste kontinuierlich betriebene Kino in Greenwich Village. Es verfügt über 3 verschiedene Leinwände (mit 60-160 Plätzen) und zeigt alle Arten von Blockbustern, Indies und mehr.
