Dê uma volta pelas ruas da cidade e você encontrará murais coloridos nas paredes, escritos em negrito nos vagões do metrô e palavras pintadas com spray nas calçadas e ruas – basicamente, qualquer coisa pode ser usada como tela.
O trabalho que você encontrará pela cidade é brilhante, inspirador e incrivelmente artístico, e estes são 10 lugares coloridos para ver algumas das melhores artes de rua de Nova York.
1. Projeto Welling Court Mural, Astoria
Em 2009, a Ad Hoc Art NYC, no Brooklyn, trabalhou com a comunidade para ajudar a embelezar a área de Welling Court, em Astoria, com a criação do Welling Court Mural Project. O impacto desse projeto foi maior do que o esperado, com a imprensa de todas as principais publicações de arte de rua, do The New York Times ao The New Yorker.
Agora, 15 anos depois, ele é um dos projetos de murais mais antigos dos cinco distritos. Há mais de 150 murais pintados por artistas de todos os cantos do mundo, e todos eles podem ser encontrados aqui.

2. First Street Green Art Park, East Village
Esse lote de construção abandonado na 33 East 1st Street tem sido mantido como um espaço de arte aberto e um jardim que atende à comunidade do Lower East Side desde 2008, quando a FSG incorporou com sucesso o lote ao First Park, trabalhando com a NYC Parks e a Partnership for Parks.
Hoje, ele se tornou um dos melhores lugares para se ver a arte de rua de Nova York, pois a FSG oferece atividade cultural contínua ao se envolver com artistas, comunidade e grupos culturais por meio de uma série de programas nesse espaço público.

3. The Bowery Wall, Nolita
O Bowery Wall, localizado na esquina noroeste da Houston Street com a Bowery, surgiu em 1982, quando Keith Haring criou sua primeira obra pública no local, em uma época em que ele era apenas um artista em ascensão. Com o passar dos anos, o muro passou a ser utilizado para fins artísticos e espaço publicitário, mas hoje é reservado para murais de artistas de Nova York.

4. Freeman Alley, Lower East Side
Talvez você passe por esse pequeno beco sem nem mesmo dar uma segunda olhada – ou talvez você não tivesse ideia de que ele estava lá até decidir jantar no Freemans Restaurant -, mas você descobrirá que esse pequeno beco contém algumas obras de arte e grafites locais bem coloridos e interessantes que valem a pena dar uma olhada.

5. The Bushwick Collective, Bushwick
O Bushwick Collective, concebido e com curadoria de Joe Ficalora, nativo de Bushwick, começa na Jefferson Street e continua na Troutman Street em direção à Saint Nicholas Avenue. Aqui você encontrará uma variedade colorida de obras de arte de artistas locais, nacionais e internacionais, dando uma ótima visão do que se qualifica como verdadeira arte de rua.

6. Graffiti Hall of Fame, East Harlem
Há mais de trinta anos, os artistas de Nova York exibem sua arte nesse muro no East Harlem. O parque nem sempre está aberto, portanto, talvez você nem sempre consiga ver essa incrível obra de arte de perto, mas ainda terá a opção de vê-la e tirar algumas fotos através da cerca.

7. Tuff City, Bronx
Essa loja de tatuagem tem se transformado em um paraíso do grafite desde 2007. Dê uma passada para ver a arte que cobre todo o edifício antes de conferir a atração principal – um vagão de metrô de 45 pés decorado com enormes imagens coloridas.

8. Coney Art Walls, Coney Island
Coney Art Walls foi um museu ao ar livre de arte de rua com curadoria do magnata do setor imobiliário Joseph J. Sitt e do superstar negociante de arte Jeffrey Deitch. O Coney Art Walls apresentou sessenta e oito murais e projetos de parede de 2015 a 2018 de muitos dos principais artistas de rua e grafite do mundo, e hoje atrai dezenas de milhares de visitantes durante o verão.

9. Ao longo da linha J/M/Z
Esse trecho do Brooklyn ao longo da linha J/M/Z está repleto de arte de rua local. Um grupo chamado JMZ Walls queria que mais áreas de Bushwick se beneficiassem do embelezamento com arte de rua, então Alberto Mejia entrou em contato com os proprietários de edifícios e lançou o projeto em 2014. Seu desejo é “tornar as linhas JMZ mais coloridas, uma parede, um portão, um espaço de cada vez”.

10. DUMBO Walls, DUMBO
O DUMBO Walls começou em 2012, quando oito paredes próximas à estação de metrô York Street começaram a exibir murais coloridos. Essas obras destacam os vários pontos de entrada do bairro e celebram os vários tipos de artistas atraídos pelo DUMBO, incluindo artistas de estúdio, artistas de rua, designers gráficos e outros.
