A classic game gets a modern touch at 7 Spring, a “bespoke backgammon café and retail haven,” according to the Nolita outpost’s Instagram page. Trust us when we say we think your new favorite hangout.
Now that winter is settling in and chilling us to the bone, it’s essential to find a new place to tuck in, get cozy, and enjoy a little friendly competition — with something sweet to accompany your game, of course.
Ready to check it out? We’ll tell you everything you need to know.
Step inside 7 Spring, NYC’s first-ever backgammon café
Part café, part retail space, and wholly inviting, 7 Spring beckons visitors inside with its wooden walls adorned with backgammon boards and enticing treats — matcha, croissants, and hot chocolate with a dollop of whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a candy cane for stirring.
Should you be visiting in the late-afternoon or early evening, swap the coffee for a glass of wine, champagne or the signature 7 Spring Spritz — a combination of Crémant, Amante liqueur, and lemon.
As for the space itself, one Yelp user perfectly sums up the ambiance as “a pure class, a swanky coffee lounge with old Vegas vibes and a backgammon twist.” Black and white photos of famous faces enjoying the game adds to the old-school atmosphere.
Walk-ins are welcome to rent and buy boards, and of course, order a few snacks in between games. However, should you really feel particularly enticed by the game, a special, members-only 7 Springs Backgammon Club awaits. Think you have what it takes to be on it?
If you’re feeling a bit stir crazy and could use an outlet this winter, we highly recommend snagging a coffee and board at 7 Spring. If you need a partner, we’ll be there. Learn more on Instagram by following @7springnyc.
