Something massive is coming to the NYC skyline this summer. To celebrate a double milestone–the 50th anniversary of the Macy’s Fireworks and America’s 250th birthday–the most ambitious Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks display in history has been announced.
This year, the show is breaking out of its usual confines. On Saturday, July 4th, the pyrotechnics will span three major locations, effectively taking over the entire New York and New Jersey waterfront.
🌃 The Big Update: New Locations for 2026
The 2026 show is officially expanding. Instead of a single river focus, the kaleidoscope of color will launch from:
- The Brooklyn Bridge: The iconic landmark will serve as the centerpiece of the 50th-anniversary show
- The Lower Hudson River: A major collaboration with Jersey City, bringing the show to the West Side
- The Lower East River: Lighting up the Seaport District

🎆 Everything You Need to Know
- Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
- Start Time: 8 pm (Fireworks typically begin once it’s fully dark, around 9:25 pm)
- Duration: 25 minutes of synchronized shells and effects
- TV/Streaming: You can watch live on NBC or Peacock from 8 pm–10 pm EST
An encore presentation of the show will air at 10 pm EST on NBC. Additionally, a Spanish language simulcast will air on Telemundo at 8 pm EST.
🎉 How to Win: The “Golden Confetti” Sweepstakes
As part of the “Celebrations Start at Macy’s” campaign, there’s a massive incentive for fans this year.
Macy’s is launching the Golden Confetti Sweepstakes, where you can enter to win one of 100 prizes, including tickets to:
- The fireworks
- The 100th Thanksgiving Day Parade
One lucky winner will even take home a $100,000 shopping spree. Learn more.

👀 Where are the best places to watch?
While Macy’s will announce official Designated Viewing Zones in the coming weeks, the expansion to the Brooklyn Bridge and Hudson River opens up miles of new waterfront viewing:
- Brooklyn Bridge Park: Ideal for the bridge-centered effects
- The Heights & Jersey City Waterfront: Perfect for the new Hudson River barges
- South Street Seaport: The best seat for the East River portion of the show
Pro Tip: Because the show is expanding to both sides of Manhattan, cross-town traffic will be more difficult than usual. If you’re planning to view from the Hudson side, stay on the West Side!

⚠️ Street Closures & Logistics
Expect heavy pedestrian-only zones around the Seaport, DUMBO, and the West Side Highway.
We’ll update this section once the NYPD releases the official 2026 street closure map.
