It happens to all of us. Sometimes, for whatever reason, we need to work (or study) remotely. For some of you, that might mean heading out of the apartment and down to the library or to the nearest Starbucks. But if you’re looking for a change of scenery- or a change of latte flavor, there are a ton of other coffee shops around the city that offer free wifi. These five could be a great option for you. So, spread out your notes, your laptop and your latte and get ready to work!
1. The Bean, East Village
The Bean has a laid-back yet work-oriented vibe. It seems like everyone here is always working, but just hard enough. The Astor Place location has tons of seating which takes the stress out of finding a place to work remotely. Plus, a selection of vegan and non-vegan treats are available for a sugar boost if you don’t want to have a second cup of joe.
Address: Multiple locations
More info: their website.
2.. Grounded Coffee House, West Village
Grounded Coffee House offers a large selection of both coffees and loose leaf teas for those of you who are looking for a different caffeinated beverage to push you through the day. The ample seating area is great for sitting down with your laptop and is also a great place for a very casual date or catch up with friends. All their green plants have us (almost) convinced we’re in the tropics, which makes working “from home” a little bit easier.
Address: 28 Jane Street
More info: their website.
3. Devoción, Williamsburg
Devoción has now expanded out of Brooklyn but their location on Grand Street in Williamsburg is still our favorite. It’s cozy rich leather couches and wooden tables really help keep you productive. Plus they brew their own ethnically sourced beans which is a bonus point on both the moral and tasty scales.
Address: various locations (but 69 Grand Street in Brooklyn is the best)
More info: their website.
4. Astoria Coffee, Astoria
Queens fam, we’re sure you’re already familiar with Astoria Coffee. The shop is full of natural light and nice airy vibes which is a great balance to staring at the blue light of the computer all day. The prices are also very reasonable for what you’re getting.
5. Blank Slate, NoMad
Located in NoMad, the Blank Slate Cafe specializes in quality coffee and small plates. They also have a selection of pastries and more than enough seating. Try the Matcha Tea Latte, you can even get it infused with CBD oil!
Address: 121 Madison Ave at 30th Street
