
From Independent Leagues to the Yankees
Born in Florida, to Cuban parents, Escarra’s path to the Bronx was anything but typical. Originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017, he played in the minor leagues before being released in 2021. Instead of giving up, he continued to play in independent leagues and even spent a season in the Dominican Winter League, all while taking on side jobs to support himself and his family.
His big break came in early 2024 when the Yankees offered him a minor league contract. With an impressive .333 batting average, three home runs, and eight RBIs in 17 preseason games, Escarra proved he belonged in the big leagues.
