The World’s Largest Japanese Food Festival Returns To NYC Next Week—2,000+ Vendors & Bites For Just $10
JAPAN Fes returns this March with its most ambitious season yet–featuring 30+ NYC events, 2,000 global vendors, and a massive 10th anniversary kickoff.
The smell of sizzling yakisoba and fresh takoyaki is about to take over the streets of New York. JAPAN Fes, the world’s largest Japanese food festival, is returning for its 10th-anniversary season in NYC.
Starting March 28, the festival launches a record-breaking year that includes 80+ events worldwide, bringing the flavors and culture of Japan straight to New York–no passport required.
More Than Just a Food Festival — A Taste of Japanese Culture
Founded by entrepreneur Dragon Yamamoto in 2011, JAPAN Fes was created to connect communities through the Japanese concept of “Wa” (harmony). But it’s far more than just food–it’s a lively celebration of Japanese culture, music, and street life.
Alongside dozens of food vendors, visitors can browse traditional crafts, art, and cultural goods while enjoying live performances throughout the festival. Yamamoto stated:
This isn’t just about eating—it’s about sharing the spirit of Japanese culture with the world.

A Record-Breaking Year For JAPAN Fes
In 2026, the festival is reaching new heights. More than 2,000 vendors will participate across 80+ events globally, with stops planned in cities across the U.S. and beyond.
In New York City alone, 30+ events are already scheduled throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, with more likely to be added as the season unfolds.
Affordable Street Food Favorites
One of the festival’s biggest draws is its budget-friendly bites, with most dishes averaging around $10.
Expect everything from ramen, sushi, and takoyaki to bubble tea, mochi, and matcha shaved ice. Local, out-of-state, and international vendors ensure the lineup is packed with authentic flavors.

NYC 2026 Kickoff + What’s New
The 2026 NYC season officially begins Saturday, March 28 at Astor Place in the East Village, marking the festival’s 10th year in New York.
From there, JAPAN Fes will pop up throughout spring, summer, and fall in neighborhoods including Midtown, Chelsea, Park Slope, and the Upper West Side.
Each event typically runs 10 am to 6 pm, giving visitors plenty of time to wander the stalls, try new dishes, and take in the festival atmosphere.
The anniversary season will also introduce a bit of friendly competition. Organizers are currently developing a “mystery” NYC contest format, promising a never-before-seen culinary challenge designed specifically for the New York crowd.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-timer, this spring is the perfect time to wander NYC streets smelling like sizzling yakisoba and fresh takoyaki, all while celebrating Japanese culture in one of the city’s most beloved festivals.
