“There’s no place like home.” And for The Wizard of Oz fans in New York City, “home” is about to be a treasure trove of Hollywood history. Just in time for the Wicked: For Good release (and after the surprising news that Dorothy’s face won’t appear in the new film) an extraordinary collection of original The Wizard of Oz memorabilia is heading to auction.
But before it does, NYC fans get something special: an exclusive first look.
Released in 1939, The Wizard of Oz remains one of the most iconic and influential films in cinematic history. Its dazzling Technicolor visuals, unforgettable characters, and timeless songs cemented it as a cornerstone of American pop culture.
‘The Wizard of Oz’ Auction

Heritage Auctions is preparing to open the curtain on a remarkable array of original The Wizard of Oz artifacts. At the top of the list is the infamous black pointed hat worn by Margaret Hamilton during the Wicked Witch’s flying scenes. Also up for bidding is Dorothy’s original cream blouse worn underneath her blue checked dress, an instantly iconic piece tied to Judy Garland’s legendary performance.
The value of Oz memorabilia has reached astonishing heights. Just last year, Heritage’s first The Wizard of Oz auction broke the all-time record for Hollywood memorabilia, when an authenticated pair of Ruby Slippers sold for a jaw-dropping $32.5 million.
