Check Out The New Brooklyn Mural Paying Homage To Puerto Ricans In NYC
You might have noticed some new art in the Williamsburg area, specifically a mural dedicated to the massive Puerto Rican community residing in the city.

Don Rimx, a Puerto Rican native who moved to the Grand Street neighborhood in 2009, was commissioned by Grand Street Business Improvement District (BID) to create a mural for the community. The title, “Olor a Azucenas el Perfume del Barrio”, roughly translated as the smell of white lilies, the perfume of the neighborhood, was inspired by flower vendors roaming the streets of San Juan.

The wall features cultural elements from Puerto Rico and NYC, in an effort to connect the immigrants in the city with the locals back home. Rimx chose not to disclose the face of the flower vendor on the mural, as a symbolic way to represent the entire community that live and work around the Grand Street area.
