On top of that we’re paying 164% more than the average American, so each time a new affordable housing lottery is unveiled we jump at the opportunity to apply, and you’re going to want to fire up that laptop now because a new Williamsburg affordable housing lottery has just opened!
The building is called The Welz and is located in Williamsburg at 159 Boerum Street. The latest housing gem is a beautiful 19-story building with 49 affordable units. New Yorkers making an income between $50,298 and $218,010 are eligible.
The pet-friendly building (up to two pets per apartment are allowed with some breed restrictions) is designed for comfort and convenience with high-end kitchen appliances, concierge, an elevator, and more. Amenities include, but aren’t limited to:
- In-unit washer and dryer
- In-unit dishwasher
- Air-conditioning
- Gymnasium
- Rooftop terrace
- Covered parking
- Bike storage lockers
- Security cameras
Of the 49 available units 15 are studios starting at $1,467, 22 are one bedrooms starting at $1,536, and 12 are two bedrooms starting at $4,040. To put things into perspective apartments.com notes that the average monthly rent for a studio in NYC is $3,133, so this lottery is definitely one you won’t want to miss!
Interested residents have until November 18, 2024 to apply to the Williamsburg affordable housing lottery. The lottery doesn’t require deposits or application fees and, in addition to rent, selected tenants will be responsible for electricity which includes electric stove, heat, and hot water. Additional fees may apply for some amenities.
