The well-known upstate New York chain, Wegmans Food Market, will open their first location within the five boroughs this weekend!
At 7am on Sunday (October 27), a 74,000-square-foot Wegmans outpost will open in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard, in the Admirals Row development on Flushing Avenue. The shop will include an in-store market cafe with a seating area for 100, along with a second floor mezzanine that will feature a full service bar and serve food, wine, beer, and spirits. You can expect to find a sushi bar and gourmet burgers on offer in the new grocery store, too.
According to a report by Eater, the sushi bar itself will offer 28 different rolls to choose from, poke bowls, and the ability to ask for custom creations as well. In the same report it’s noted that there will also be a burger bar that’ll offer the Impossible Burger along with other delicious items like lobster rolls and crab cakes.
In a statement released earlier this month by Vice President and District Manager, Todd Ferrera, he said:
“The Brooklyn community has been eagerly awaiting the opening date for this store. October 27 is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone.”
And the big day is finally here!
Wegmans was second on Fortune‘s list of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For” in 2018 and has been at the top for over two decades. The chain plans to open three locations in 2019 along the east coast in Virginia, North Carolina, and New York.
