What is We call it Ballet?
Integrating interactive LED lighting into the ballet dancers’ costumes, We call it Ballet creates a synchronized and responsive visual experience adding a dynamic new element to the traditional tale. Thanks to this wearable technology as well as a narrator setting the scene, the beauty of the ballet is made more accessible for younger audiences, the visually impaired and for those that just didn’t have a clue what was going on.
Ballet, its storytelling and the show
The classic fairy tale tells the story of Princess Aurora, who is cursed by the evil Carabosse and can only be awakened from her deep, century-old sleep by true love’s kiss. The traditional ballet was set to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and choreographed by Marius Petipa.
We call it Ballet flips the script on the traditional ballet we’ve come to know and love, offering new pieces composed specifically for the show. Additionally, as the ballet dancers gracefully pirouette and stand en pointe, a narrator pitches in to briefly explain the plot, giving the whole experience a more immersive dimension.
This innovative dance and light show is set to dazzle New York audiences yet again, creating enduring memories.
We call it Ballet takes place at 524 West. There are two back-to-back performances, scheduled at 6:30pm and 9:00pm. This way, you can choose the one that best suits your schedule and make a night of it.
