If you frequent Washington Square Park, you probably recognize Colin Huggins, who wheels his 800-pound piano into the park every weekend, in all types of weather.
Huggins started the tradition because thought about trying street performance, and felt all good street performers needed a “little bit of spectacle.” He and his roommate decided bringing around a real piano would add the most unique spin on the performance. So, every Saturday and Sunday, he wheeled it through the streets and into the park under the arch, playing beautiful music for any New Yorker passing through.
And since coronavirus basically shut the city down and that is no longer possible, he has taken to playing on his Instagram Stories Live, most weekdays at 7pm. You can find his Instagram here, at @howdidyougetthepianohere (find out how he actually did, here!).
