The Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) in Astoria, Queens and AMC Networks are partnering to create an epic exhibit highlighting the hit zombie TV show The Walking Dead as it nears its final season!
The exhibit, called “Living with the Walking Dead,” will run from June 25 through January 1, 2023 on the Museum’s third floor, which houses its rotating exhibitions.
Featuring original costumes and props, concept art, storyboards, scripts, and tons of prosthetic makeup material, the exhibit will “explore the cinematic and literary antecedents of The Walking Dead, including its origin in Robert Kirkman’s comic book series, and present the unique innovations that the AMC Networks series has contributed, with its wide-ranging story of survival, diverse cast of characters, and devoted legion of fans.”
The Walking Dead held the #1 cable series launch of all time when it first premiered in October of 2010, and is still the most-watched series in cable history.
“More than just a television show, it is a cultural phenomenon that is adored by legions of fans, who celebrate the innovative, engaging, and immersive world that its makers have built, and for its diverse cast of characters,” said Carl Goodman, MoMI Executive Director. “The exhibition will bleed outward from our temporary exhibitions gallery and into our theaters, classrooms, and other public spaces.”
The exhibit will be accompanied by the Museum’s signature screenings, plus some other themed events to be announced.
Tickets will go on sale to the public on May 9. Stay up-to-date on the museum’s website here!
