We went on a tantalizing maze called “Viola’s Room” at The Shed. Due to popular demand, it is now extended through Nov 16.
Presented by Punchdrunk, the creators of the theatrical experience Sleep No More, Viola’s Room has the essence of a thrilling mystery that stays until the very end. We wandered through this audio-driven sensory labyrinth in this immersive take on a gothic story!
What to expect at Viola’s Room

It’s encouraged that you show up 20 minutes before your time slot and for good reason; most of the times are completely sold out (especially on the weekends). It’s nearly an hour long and takes you on a wild ride. Tickets to this limited experience can be found here.
In an intimate group of up to six people, we were taken to a room where we needed to take off our socks and shoes for the experience, (we were a little apprehensive to do so). By the end, you will be very glad you did. (Everyone sanitized their feet before and after the experience too!)
With an audio guide who happens to be Helena Bonham Carter, we were taken through the story of Princess Viola. The entire production plays with light. Some parts have you completely in the dark, some spaces are tight, the visuals are detailed and intriguing. It’s a thrilling and mysterious experience.
We felt our way through the labyrinth that is Viola’s world. When the story (and the lights speed up) so do you. You have to be able to trust the dark and the light.
Viola’s Room is eerie without having the jump scares!
The music is a character in the journey. The soundtrack is an absolutely incredible one, it adds to the haunting feeling of Viola’s Room. The experience lasts just under an hour long, individual tickets are $69 per person. This is not for anyone scared of the dark or those with claustrophobia. No one under the age of 12 is allowed.
